Empowering Communities Workshop 2 (Online)

06/12/2023 – One strand of Himaya Haven’s Prevent project is to support practitioners, located in settings such as schools, to gain and further develop the knowledge and skills needed to safeguard young people. In addition to highlighting, how to engage with families, who have found a loved one arrested or charged with a TACT offence. The workshop looked at how Himaya Haven can provide support, by for example facilitating contact with families, and ensuring there is a support framework in place to aid the family in taking positive steps forward. During the workshop, we discussed how Himaya Haven can help families as they navigate the CJS, for instance assisting them in booking prison visits, and understanding judicial procedures.
