Himaya Haven received funding from Birmingham City Council Food Aid to provide six months of food hampers to our families. This was done by producing one hamper per family each month, supporting on average 22 families each month. Every month the team alongside their volunteers would do a large shop at Aldi supermarket for all the food groceries required. This included essentials and fresh produce where some items were alternated per month to provide a variety of food. Once all items had been purchased, all volunteer cars were loaded and were then unloaded at the Qadria Trust Mosque who allowed us to use their community room free of charge each month. Once unloaded inside the building all items were organised to provide an efficient packing process. Each food hamper was carefully created to ensure the correct number of each item was packed correctly and the food hampers were then split up by area, loaded back into each car and delivered by each driving volunteer.
